Chart Update: 17th April

This week sees Britney’s current single ‘Till The World Ends‘ bullet up to #15 on the ARIA Music Charts, while sitting comfortably at #8 on Australian iTunes. If it continues to rise on iTunes like it has in the past week, we might see it creep into the top 10 finally!

Britney’s best shot at an Australian number one

All eyes will be on the ARIA chart in a few weeks as Femme Fatale sees it’s release in Australia this Friday March 25th.

Femme Fatale will make its debut on the Sunday April 3rd chart from the previous weeks sales, and could very well be Britney‘s first ever Australian number one album.

All Australian fans are reminded to hold off on buying the album, even if it’s sitting on store shelves days leading up to Friday, or else sales will not be included on the weeks chart.  ARIA rules state that “albums must be sold during the sales week to be eligible for inclusion into the specific weeks chart“.

Britney‘s closest competition is Radiohead, who also haven’t been able to include an Australian number one album on thier bio.

Femme Fatale is available in both Deluxe and Standard versions from this Friday.

Hold It Against Me drops; goes Platinum

To a small few, Hold It Against Me may have looked to have had mediocre success in Australia – however the sales of the single tell a different story.

Proving that official charts may not be as accurate as everyone makes them out to be, the first track taken off Britney‘s Femme Fatale has gone platinum on this weeks ARIA chart – that equates to over 70,000 downloads of the single as no physical release was available in Australia.

Hold It Against Me dropped six places this week to land at number 31.

In other news, Till The World Ends was held off from charting officially this week with a digital entry at number 18.
