Is Britney Spears bringing her Femme Fatale tour to Australia? The short answer is possibly.
The team at gimmeBRITNEY have been keeping our ears to the ground and we’re hearing the same “stir” that was around when we first heard word that Britney would be bringing her Circus tour to the country.
What we know is that a touring promoter – we’re currently not 100% sure on which one – has been looking at accommodation and venues for a “major artist” to tour in either November or December. Nothing has been confirmed at this stage but you can bet that we’re keeping a close eye on developments.
Although the Circus tour in 2009 came under fire from the media in Australia, it was one of the most successful concerts in Australian history. We’re sure that if a promoter had the chance to bring Britney back here, they’d be doing everything they could to make it happen.

The addiction has begun… again.
For my first post here at GB.com, I ultimately wanted to discuss who Britney is as an artist of today, & her purpose in the world of pop. She has been around for more than a decade, sold millions of records, won countless awards, & is responsible for one of the biggest comebacks in pop history. The question is… what made, & still makes, the world be so fascinated with her, each & every day? The answer– she is simply interesting.
I type the word interesting lightly as, yes, she is interesting, but unlike other artists of today she does not have to try & be the focus; she is the focus. Anything the gal does gets reported; something as simple as walking down the street in boots hits the front pages of the tabloids. Britney has this mood about her, this attitude, this sexuality… it draws people in & makes them want to know more about her. Although this aspect is evident, she is still the same girl the whole world was introduced too back in 1998.
However, the issue I encounter often is that certain people, fans, even haters find it a struggle to seperate the person from the performer. We need to acknowledge that Britney is (in some ways) two different people. One, off-stage she is a loving mother for her two children, & two, on-stage she is one that creates music and entertains millions of fans. When people think of Britney alot associate the word ‘crazy’ with her, even when it comes to her music & I really dislike this. We all go through struggles, ups-and-downs. Britney got over these & yes, she may face more in the future, but she did defeat them, yet people still dwel on the past and continue to think the gal is unstable in life. I am not sure about you, but it bothers me that people still think of Britney in that light, because she really is FAR from that at this point in time.
Through her music Britney has proved that she is talented. I’m sorry, but a sale of 80 million records+ sold does not LIE. Anyone who concludes about the legend not being talented is clearly the one unstable as an artist does not stick around for over a decade for nothing or no reason. What makes Britney a legend is that her music is & always will be timeless. Slap Baby One More Time on & everyone can STILL dance to it! That track made her, and the songs that followed (Slave 4 U, Toxic, Gimme More, Womanizer… just to name a few) reflect her power as an artist. Throughout all her albums people can gain a sense of who Britney was at that point in time, hence a seperation between her personal and professional life clear. Wether you rejected Britney as a person or not, that does not mean you have to dismiss her work also, & that is what I would wish for people to understand a little more clearly.

Let’s face it, Britney would have to be one of, if not the most talked about celebrities on this planet.
From her sexy schoolgirl outfit, to shaving her head, to making one of the biggest comebacks in pop history, she always gives us something to talk about. With more than 7,000,000 followers on Twitter & on the eve of the official release of FEMME FATALE, I put it out to her followers to tell me in one tweet what it is they love most about the Pop Diva. What I got was a lot of very different reasons – some from a musical perspective, some quite personal. Here’s a sample of some of those responses:
BraveNewGirl_: I love her laugh, her smile, her voice, her sense of humor, her innocent look.. aw, I love everything about @britneyspears.
DarkPavlova: I love Britney bcos she don’t give a f*** what people think about her. She is who she is. If u don’t like that, Get over it!
kingsleyyy: If I didn’t know she was Britney Spears and I passed her on the street, I’d think she was just a normal southern gal.
Esprit_Fatale: I love @britneyspears because she has an honest & sweet heart plus she sets us on fire with her music.
SaruhxFatale: I love her as a person and truly care for her well being. Her music & hotness is a huge bonus.
DevonPacey: She is an amazing person overall, her talent is incredible & just watching her videos can cheer me up when I’m in the worst moods.
WilliamFatale: Because she simply made me who I am right now - a strong, confident and humble person. I learned that from her. She makes me happy.
alexroche123: she’s the nicest/most real celebrity out there.
wildbeest55: I love Britney ‘cause she’s talented, humble & such a nice person. Her genuine attitude is hard to ignore. Love her to bits.
RianPopKid: I love Britney because she made me a cool kid back in the early 2000’s.
Britney_fanatic: She’s been in my life since I was 4. I wouldn’t be who I am without her. She’s strong, TALENTED & beautiful & the most real celebrity.
jordanizer: I was 8 years old when she came out. She introduced a new world to me of pop music.. and showed me how to be a confident female.
pigrezhellton: I really don’t know why I love @britneyspears! Only God knows why….
bspearsforever0: I love Britney because she’s not afraid to take risks! Like I’m a Slave 4 U on the VMA’s.
monribot: I love her because she is strong, she has been through a lot & she is still here, being so humble & lovely as always.
teambritneyxo: I love brit because she has been through so much and still holds her head up. She also taught me to love & be myself.
LilyFemmeFatale: I love Brit because she doesn’t try to be anything but herself. She’s real, she’s humble & she’s never changed, just gotten better!
adhaaL: I love Britney because she makes me proud of who I am. I don’t know what I’d do without her. She’s the biggest influence in my life.
DiscoGaga2011: I love Britney because she has a great voice. She’s been in the business for years and is still HOT. We never get tired of her and she has the ability to make me dance with EVERY song she puts out!
ForeverMusick: She is human, she showed her flaws but didn’t let that stop her…..she is not only talented but real too…My Idol.
OutrageousNessa: I love Britney because she amazes me with everything she does, and how simply she does it. Her flaws & imperfections make her perfect to me & helps me connect with her.
And the final one really summed it up for me:
Nerdology: It’s hard because there’s too many reasons why I love Britney that can’t be written in 140 characters. But I’ll try!
From these tweets, the things that stood out to me most were how people love the fact that Britney is still so humble, down to earth and strong. Without her even realising it she has made such an impact on peoples liveswith more than just her music & dancing, and we as fans just love to talk about it.
Tell us why you love Britney so much.

With only two weeks until the release of FEMME FATALE in Australia, Twitter has been buzzing with rumours of more snippets & leaks.
I have encountered two links, one which downloaded a file of nothing, the other lead to Xtina’s Bionic. One of my followers was also sent a link, but after downloading the file discovered only two of the songs were Britney’s. Another person also set an account up on Twitter, claiming to have FEMME FATALE and promising that once they got to 1000 followers, they would leak it – desperate much? That Twitter account has since disappeared.
The release of snippets and threat of leaks has also caused some heated debate amongst Britney fans on Twitter. Some are more than happy to listen to those snippets to get a feel for FEMME FATALE, whereas others feel that it’s giving away too much of the album before it’s release.
What are all your thoughts on the release of snippets and threat of leaks?

While Britney has been copping her fair share of bad media coverage in Aus, it seem’s that some of the American’s have turned against her too. Part time stylists were asked to help with make-up and costumes for Spears’ latest hit “3″, but say she was rude and acted like a b*tch.
“We tried to help her with make-up and costumes, she refused. She wanted it done her own way,” said one shocked by the singer’s attitude. “She has become an obnoxious b*tch, not the sweet girl the world fell in love with,” said another.
Personally, I think the costumes are fantastic and it is one of her better music videos, so she probably did it for the best.
“They all wanna pick, they all wanna see, see, see what you’re made of” — Britney Spears, Kill The Lights

This article is in response to Australian journalist Rebekah Devlin’s editorial on ThePunch, titled “Read My Lips: The Truth About Britney”.
Rebekah Devlin has every right to offer her opinion, and with experience of 6 years in the business we are not one to question this, however the story that was first written by Ms Devlin on Friday night/Saturday morning was not written as an opinion piece. It was written as a news story, and came across like EVERYONE who saw the Britney Spears concert thought the exact same thing as these 25+ people who left early. 25 people out of almost 20,000. It almost appears to have been written to spark controversy and outrage.
Good reporting is investigating further into it. Waiting until the concert was over, then asking another 25 people what they thought, and reporting on that. Did they all think the concert was bad, and why? These people who left the concert because they were “outraged” by Britney miming I don’t get. Do they not know what Britney did before they purchased the tickets. From what I was told today, alot of people who paid for the cheaper tickets wanted to go to see what all the hype was about. Fans knew what they were in for – take a look at this Channel 10 report.
How Ms Devlin came to the conclusion from only 25 people walking out early meant that everyone hated the show is just incorrect, and isn’t factual at all. She defends her journalistic integrity in her soapbox rave, but she wrote the news article with every intention to make it negative. If she was a fan, like she said herself, then she would’ve looked further into her research. Ask 25 more people when they came out – who actually saw more than 2 songs before walking out. What’s the saying? Never judge a book by it’s cover? Why judge the concert only after a short period of time?
We do acknowledge that reviews on the first show were very divided. Many people who attended couldn’t see Britney – who they had paid alot of money to see – because they were too far from the stage, or they expected alot more – and thought that Britney didn’t interact enough with the audience. Maybe she didn’t, and maybe that is something that needs to be looked at. It’s all constructive criticism. Her lip-synching should not even be questioned here, as Britney has always been known to do this. She dances and covers more of a stage than both Pink and Beyonce – both of their stages were back against the wall of the arena, not in the centre.
In the end people will believe and say what they want – and that’s their choice.
The Australian fans – the people who go the fan sites, who buy her music, who listen to her songs – loved the show. That is what matters here, and we all need to remember that here on gimmeBRITNEY and all the other fan sites around the world.
Let’s leave it there and enjoy the next show in the Circus tour – Melbourne.
