The stage is officially set for the Circus tour to hit Australia in October 2009.
Sony Australia CEO, Denis Handlin let slip the information during a promotional meeting in Sydney earlier today, saying that Britney is excited to be coming back to Australia later in the year.
Frontier Touring’s Michael Gudinski confirmed last week that discussions were being made with Spears’ management, and were pretty much a done deal – however also included that several other promoters had been chasing Spears.
GimmeBritney is hearing that we won’t get the official announcement until April or May this year – when tickets will go on sale shortly after – but this is the news we wanted to hear. The Circus is coming down under!

More details are leaking over the upcoming Circus World Tour.
The Frontier Touring Company have signed on as the tours Australian promoter, and have now enlisted the help of bandit.fm – Sony Music‘s online store.
Not only that, the tour will be presented by Virgin Mobile Australia and the Today Radio Network.
We’re hearing that dates are still being finalised, but that the tour is now a definate for both Melbourne and Sydney. We’re also expecting an announcement in the next week – possibly around the release of the 3rd single on March 14th.

Britney is coming to Australia! Ticketek have just posted a waiting list for ‘The Circus: Starring Britney Spears’, and let’s just put it this way: they wouldn’t be putting that up unless SOMETHING is a done deal!
So far we’re hearing that Sydney and Melbourne are definite, no word on any other cities…yet. Tickets are expected to go on sale in April!
